Crown Moulding Success

Q: I need some help figuring out how to install crown moulding. Where can I turn?

A: Of all the trim-related jobs, crown moulding installation is one of the most challenging. On the plus side, there have never been more factors in favour of do-it-yourself crown moulding success. The first thing you'll need is a mitre saw, preferably one with compound angle capability. This means the machine can cut angles in two directions at once -- a key advantage when working with wide crown. I wouldn’t even attempt the project without this kind of saw. The next thing you need is know-how. And the best book on trim installation I've seen is Trim Carpentry Techniques by Craig Savage (ISBN 0-942391-08-X). It includes the best chapter on crown moulding installation that I've seen.
