Frank Fourchalk - Home Security

Should alarm-system stickers be displayed?

Question: I have just had an alarm installed. My alarm installer left me with a few alarm stickers for my doors and windows. I don't think I should broadcast the fact that I have an alarm system. What do you suggest I do with the stickers?

Fourchalk: There are two theories about displaying alarm stickers. Theory one is, "Don't display the stickers because it may tip off an intruder that you have an alarm system." Theory two is, "Display the stickers in hopes that an intruder will think twice about breaking in."

I have read many security reports from all over North America and it's been proven that displaying alarm stickers does prevent break and enters. If you choose not to display the stickers, you may run the risk of a break-in. So, broadcast and be proud of the fact that you installed a security system.
