at : Laura creates mosaic wall piece set in wooden frames resembling church windows. She hand forms, paints and fires clay tiles that are then set in a frame. She uses patterns and materials similar to those used in many Middle Eastern buildings centuries ago. To some, Laura's work reminds them of illustrated or illuminated manuscript pages from the middle ages. Her images are quite spiritual, inhabiting the space between heaven and earth. Laura takes her inspiration from such artists as Marc Chagall, Miro, Picasso, Maud Lewis, and Dawn MacNutt. |
